Outreach Ministry

The Outreach Ministry encourages First Plymouth members to view themselves as the hands and feet of Jesus through education about the needs of people in our community, active participation and giving to others.

Share-The-Plate

The Ministry designates a Share-the-Plate recipient for three of the four Sundays per month, selected from a broad base of community or international needs. These recipients receive the funds collected during worship.

Can Do Sunday

On the second Sunday of the month, congregants bring food and money to store in the Can Do Cupboard, which we donate to Metro Caring, a food bank serving Denver for over 50 years.

Angel Tree

In November each year, we sponsor the Angel Tree. Congregants select a recipient from the tree and donate toys and clothing to families identified by various community organizations.

Share-the-Plate: Kentucky Circle Village

The First Plymouth Congregational Church is pleased to continue its long-time support to Kentucky Circle Village by designating it as its Share-the-Plate recipient for March 2026. Kentucky Circle Village is a non-profit community that furnishes 172 low income, independent-living apartments for senior citizens in a neighborhood-type setting in the Glendale area of downtown Denver. A collaboration among three churches was instrumental in establishing it in 1959: First Plymouth, American Baptist Churches of the Rocky Mountains (represented by Calvary Baptist Church in Denver), and Green Mountain Presbyterian Church. Kentucky Circle Village includes an area of one-story cottages that were part of the original community as well as two and three story buildings added in a major expansion and remodeling that took place in 2000.

More than just housing, Kentucky Circle Village provides amenities for its 200 residents including a dining room/clubhouse that includes an exercise room, a library/media center with puzzles and games, and a community patio with outdoor cooking facilities. Transportation is provided to residents for grocery shopping and access to a light-rail stations. Also, a residents’ council organizes events such as movie nights, chair yoga, holiday parties, and periodic trips to local attractions such as a Colorado Rockies game.
Your STP financial contributions in March will help continue First Plymouth’s historic ties to Kentucky Circle Village. Join the church services at 10:00 AM on March 8, 15, and 22 to learn more about Kentucky Circle.

Ready to Work

This organization provides a unique and highly-effective combination of employment, housing, and support that breaks the expensive cycles of homelessness, incarceration and chronic unemployment. The Ready to Work program is the first stepping stone to self-sufficiency. After approximately one year, trainees graduate to mainstream jobs and permanent housing. Their average success rate of 74%.

First Plymouth’s connection with Ready to Work is not only through financial support, but through our Creation Justice team who help feed trainees that are staying in the facility with additional training being provided for recycling and composting.
