Homelessness & Hunger
Homelessness & Hunger
Acknowledging that we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world, we’re committed to those in our community who have immediate need for food and shelter.
- We prepare dinners and run children’s programs for unhoused families at Family Promise.
- We fund and build affordable housing for working families with Habitat for Humanity.
- We manage Kentucky Circle Village that provides assisted living support to lower income seniors.
- We assist our neighbors struggling with skyrocketing costs to have a safe place to call home.
- We help stock the pantries at Metro Caring and the Denver Inner City Parish (co-founded by First Plymouth in 1960).
- We collect canned items for the Metro Caring food bank at our monthly food drive, Can Do Sunday.
- We volunteer to serve Thanksgiving dinner at the Denver Inner City Parish.
Family Promise
Family Promise provides rotating weekly homes for unhoused families at 13 churches throughout Denver and 13 in Lakewood. First Plymouth has partnered with Living Hope Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church (CBC) to support these families five weeks each year. The families stay at CBC, and First Plymouth members go there to prepare dinners, to provide children’s activities, to drive the van to take families to and from the day-site, to stay overnight, and to help with breakfast. We launder linens after their visits and donate supplies to make the guests comfortable during their stay at CBC.
