Our Stories

Why We Call First Plymouth Home

Whoever you are and wherever you are on life’s journey, we’d love for you to hear from the people who call First Plymouth home. Our members come from all walks of life, and each one found something here that keeps them coming back: genuine community, a shared commitment to social justice, and a place where everybody truly belongs. We think their stories say it better than we ever could.

I’ve been a member of this church for 25 years. We love it here, and we plan to stay, continuing to offer that same sense of welcome and embrace to others for as long as we can.

We joined in 2000 because we were looking for a congregation that was actively engaged in social justice, while also grounded in a strong spiritual foundation that guided that work.

My partner and I were drawn to First Plymouth 13 years ago because we wanted a church that truly honored our family. Becoming part of the children’s ministries has been one of the greatest blessings of being here.

I love what the church stands for: its commitment to social justice, care for the planet, and advocacy for marginalized people of every race, gender, and identity.

At First Plymouth, I’ve found a community where we may not always agree on everything, but we genuinely try to understand one another. We truly want to welcome everyone. This is a church for everybody!

Week after week, this place reminds me that I’m not alone.  Not alone in my grief…not alone in my joy. I’m not alone in my laughter or in appreciating the beautiful things in life and in this church.

My wife, Robin, found a knitting group here at First Plymouth…she noticed everything happening around the church so we came to a few services.  We’ve now been regular attendees for more than 10 years.

Before anyone even knew who I was, people went out of their way to look me in the eye and make me feel seen and loved. My husband, my teenage daughter, and I all felt genuinely welcomed from the very first visit.

FPCC is a great fit for our family. Both of my kids got involved in music, ended up joining the choir, attended what’s called MADD Camp. We have become increasingly active in the church community.
