FP WISE Mental Health Ministry

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), 1 in 5 U.S. adults experience mental illness each year. Among teens, the statistics are even worse: 1 in 6 youth aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year and suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among young people aged 10-14. Studies show that rates of depression, anxiety, self-harm and suicide have more than doubled among teens in recent years.

Like the rest of the country, our community has been affected by this mental health crisis. Families need help.

Our church has responded by creating First Plymouth Welcoming, Inclusive, Supportive, Engaged (FPWISE), the mental health ministry; a place where everyone can feel safe and be heard. We strive to enhance understanding of mental illness, brain disorders, and suicide. By listening and sharing, we can provide help and reduce the stigma of mental illness.
