Kentucky Circle Village (KCV) has been a part of the outreach mission of First Plymouth for more than 60 years. It was established in 1959 to meet the growing housing needs of seniors with limited incomes and remains an important part of the affordable housing movement in the Denver metropolitan area.
KCV is located in the Glendale neighborhood of Denver on Kentucky Avenue between Colorado Boulevard and Cherry Creek Drive South. It is a community of 29 buildings and 172 apartments on eight and a half beautifully landscaped acres, providing affordable homes for over 175 independent seniors aged 62 and over.
KCV was developed, and continues to be partially owned and wholly managed by Senior Homes of Colorado, Inc., a nonprofit corporation formed and controlled by three church entities: First Plymouth Congregational Church, the American Baptist Churches of the Rocky Mountains (primarily represented by Calvary Baptist Church), and Green Mountain Presbyterian Church. Each church nominates several members to the board of directors; First Plymouth’s representatives are Adrienne Andrews Glenn, Liz Mascitelli, Ken Sawyer, and Dal Ingold. At present, Julie Hoebel is serving as the Executive Director of Kentucky Circle Village.
Although development of the complex has been funded by a series of community bond issues, low income housing tax credit (LIHTC) funding, and special loans from federal, state, and city housing agencies, there remains a pressing need for emergency financial assistance for some residents who are on extremely limited incomes and facing unexpected financial hardship due to medical bills or loss of employment. The Henry G. Smith Fund has been established specifically to help these residents, and all contributions to the fund are very much appreciated. Donations by check may be written payable to Senior Homes of Colorado and mailed directly to Kentucky Circle Village (4901 E. Kentucky Circle, Denver 80246). KCV is a 501(c)(3) organization, and all contributions are tax-deductible. Church members are also invited to engage directly with the Kentucky Circle community through volunteer activities and attendance at community events.
